Here Comes Santa
This week is Christmas Day, the one day of the year where everything closes and everyone has a day off (mostly).
I am spending Christmas with some of my family. We are gathering at my sister’s house and having lunch together. The rest of my family is spread out across Australia so we don’t often find ourselves in the one place anymore.
We have a few traditions unique to our family that we observe every year. One of those is that my mother makes lolly bags and place cards for the lunch table. She comes up with an idea (like angels made out of paper plates, noodle boxes full of goodies etc). Every year, she gathers everything she needs, and then somehow convinces me to make them all. That’s right… I make them because somehow I can never say no. And maybe that’s my tradition.
Christmas is a time for family and being able to take a day away from the rest of the world. It’s about showing people you love them and being grateful for all the good in the world.
From my family to yours, I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, whatever your traditions are.
