Happy Australia Day
This week we celebrate Australia Day here in Oz. Besides getting a day off work, it’s actually a pretty cool day to do everything Aussie. Ha! Like a writer ever has a day off.
The more I travel, the more I realise how good we have it here (can you say ‘free healthcare’). So, to celebrate, I urge you all to embrace your inner Australian and do at least one of the following:
- Eat a lamington (I’ve already done this today – and yes, it’s only 7am)
- Cuddle a koala (here little koala, come here)
- Pretend you’re a kangaroo and jump around (I do this every day anyway)
- Play some cricket (I’ll leave this to everyone else)
- Enjoy the beach (always!)
- Greet everyone with a ‘G’day mate’ (G’day mate!)
- Watch any Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, or Jackie Weaver movie (Nicole Kidman movies don’t count, I don’t particularly like her)
- Say Happy Birthday to Ellen DeGeneres (because Australians are friendly that way)
So, go on, be an Aussie and have a wonderful Australia Day.
